hi!

Jane Alexander Jager Sasso believes that there is deep beauty in the everyday—her paintings are often intimately sized snapshots of nature and interiors, mundane but lovely objects, and casual portraiture. Simultaneously, she loves to commemorate special moments and prized possessions, capturing everything from bridal bouquets and wedding portraits to her grandfather’s plane. Jane approaches both flowers and visual art with a love of wild color and playful movement—twisting the traditional forms of floral design and painting to celebrate both the unusual and the overlooked.

Growing up surrounded by the atmospheric vibrancy of California Impressionism, she was always encouraged to experiment with the “good” art supplies and materials. She learned composition and color theory by helping her mom lay out quilt squares. During her time at Michigan State, she focused heavily on figure drawing and printmaking, learning the importance of line quality and proportion. Flowers and event work have given her an appreciation for timing, rhythm, and texture. Working alongside her partner in the studio has pushed her to embrace sculpture, pattern, and the power of weird colors.

Slinging flowers and paint, queer artist-florist Jane is the co-founder of wedding/event design company Four Leaf Clover Studio, along with her mom, Martha. Originally from Laguna Beach, California, she now shares a home, studio, and wardrobe with her partner Kira and their tiny dog Coral in Southeast Michigan.
